Bound

I’m a slave of the things I crave.

I’ve bound myself in chains even though I think I’ve got brains.

What I seek is essential, what I crave is crucial, but finite.

Endlessly, I seek it to thrive.

I’m terrified of its absence so like a blood hound, endlessly, I trail it.

I find myself running in circles through loops, in search of something that feels like everything.

Time and again when I have it, it feels like nothing.

There has to be more to all of this, I often ponder.

So I try to see beyond what is, through and into what could be.

But I always find myself lost in the middle, unsure if there is an end.
