Slipping Memories

Emptiness, void, absence,
All I feel are their presence.
I gaze and behold reminders of moments that once was,
Slipping away.

Distance slowly blurs the lines.
Memories slowly slips from my mind.
Time slowly steals what’s mine.

You’ll miss me when I’m gone she said.
You’ll need me when I’m done she said.
Words, incomprehensible to a shallow heart.
Awoken feelings, incomprehensible to a hollow heart.

So distance slowly blurs the lines.
Memories slowly slips from my mind.
Time slowly steals what’s mine.

Now I strive to hold on,
Now I strain to remember.
The touch, the taste, the scent worn,
I must remember.

But distance slowly blurs the lines.
Memories slowly slips from my mind.
Time slowly steals what’s mine.

Unspoken feelings, slumbering emotions awoken,
Left unattended.
Broken heart, with burning desires like a raging fire,
Felt, unintended.

Distance slowly blurs the lines.
Memories slowly slips from my mind.
Time slowly steals what’s mine.

The days are getting longer, and the nights much longer.
With her time swayed, unnoticed, now time is stalled and noticed.
With thoughts weighing down, and wishes pending down.

Distance slowly blurs the lines.
Memories slowly slips from my mind.
Time slowly steals what’s mine.

Emmalase.
